Preggy Sue.

Snapped a quick photo at work today with my phone:
Photobucket

How far along? 17 weeks
Total weight gain/loss? Around 4 lbs. depends on the time of day
Maternity clothes? Only a pair of maternity 7 For All Mankind skinny jeans (worth every cent) and a pair of H&M maternity skinny jeans (not so comfy).
Stretch marks? No new ones. I have very faint ones under my bellybutton from Olivia but I use oils and cocoa butter daily.
Sleep? Like a log.
Best moment this week? It hasn't happened, but Wednesday we have a doctor's appointment and I get to see my baby!
Movement? Random, small movements.
Food cravings? Things that are sour and spicy!!!
Food aversions? Not too many, it depends how I am feeling. I had way more aversions when I was pregnant with Pea.
Gender? Not sure yet.
Labor signs? Nope.
Belly button in/out? In.
What I miss: Beer, wine :)
What I am looking forward to: Meeting my #2 and breastfeeding her/him (sound weird?), getting a flat stomach again!

And let's not leave out my other baby, the cuteness that is Miss Olivia Simone.

p.s. I hope everyone had a wonderful New Year. I should note the huz and I went out for a yummy Thai dinner and I passed out at 11:00pm. Oh well!

Pregnancy blah.

I have cures for the pregnancy blahs- they work every time. A good haircut, or a manicure, or a cute new pair of underpants. I chose the haircut this time.

Lady lumps.

It's happening. The boobs. The bump.

Funny how from my ribs up I could maybe pretend to be a bikini model and from the chest down I look like I drank too many beers. Instead of fighting my jeans to button at this point I would rather remind myself that my body is magic: creating life.

BOY/GIRL

Ok, so I am reconsidering this whole waiting to find out the gender of the baby. I am dying to know, and I know there are pros and cons to both choices. I knew it would be super hard for me. Also, when we get ultrasounds I am sure Todd and I could easily discern the baby's bits and know the gender regardless.

Pros:
-I can prepare, seeing how everything I have is SO girly.
-I can bond with the baby better, it will not be an "it".
-It will still be so exciting and fun to find out! It is still a surprise.
-I do not have to pick two names.
-I am impatient and suck at waiting.

Cons
:
-I will not have that super amazing "IT'S A BOY!" or "IT'S A GIRL!" that I have heard so many mamas describe. The ones that have waited have told me to wait, that it is so worth it.

Gahhhh.

1/3 baked.

This little nugget and I officially completed the first trimester of pregnancy without too many mishaps. I did get sick a bit, I was so completely tired at first, and cursed pregnancy for a couple of weeks but all in all I cannot complain too much. I have an appointment for an ultrasound on Wednesday and I look forward to seeing the 2nd extension of my heart fluttering around on the screen.

As the weeks pass and Olivia continues to make me smile, test my patience, and fill me with joy I also stop for a moment and feel the adoration grow for this new child forming in my body. I wonder about him or her, and I feel almost guilty that I am so consumed with Pea that I think that perhaps being the second child is not fair. Why? well, because when I was pregnant with Olivia she was all I thought of and was my biggest focus. I did not have a rambunctious toddler to tend to or care for.

On that same note, Olivia is helping the time pass more quickly. I cannot believe the first trimester has come and gone. I am so excited to meet this fourth and final addition to my beloved peapod and his/her big sister is helping it so that Christmas morning anticipation will come sooner than I think! There is nothing, no day that compares to the day a mother gives birth. It is the ultimate, most resonating day. Ever. I am so thankful for the opportunity to experience that again.

And I crave pickles.

The new nugget.

I am sorry for keeping you in suspense. Right now we do not know much about this new little creature growing in my tummy, other than he/she did not give me morning sickness as badly as Pea and he/she has given me an awesome pair of boobies! My due date is June 12, 2011. I am going to avoid another c-section as much as I can and thankfully I have found a supportive midwife. I would love to birth at home but currently I am not sure if this is what will happen. All I know is that this summer there will be another sweet and precious breastfed, cloth diapered, and super loved baby in the world!

This will be our last baby and I would really like to keep the gender of the baby a surprise until she/he is born. This will be SO hard but I am going to try. Don't you think it will be so worth it? What a tremendous surprise it will be to hear "It's a BOY!" or "It's a GIRL!"

Here we go again :)
