The Holiday.

I hope everyone had a very wonderful Christmas. Ours was delightful, but busy! We spent the night at my parent's house Christmas Eve and my mom and I were up late wrapping gifts. Then we all woke up early and opened our presents from Santa in our holiday pajamas. After that, it felt like we were house hopping until the evening. It was tiring, but I am so thankful we have so much love and family in our lives. Once the babies grow up I can see us not wanting to jump from home to home on Christmas day and will prefer to just be home with the kids and have family come visit with us, but we'll see. Christmas list....

Everyone done with their Christmas shopping? I am not. I procrastinate. Todd is hard to shop for, in the sense that he always buys whatever he really wants and what he doesn't buy that he really wants is something super expensive we cannot afford right now. My sister and I already shopped for our parents (so excited about this one!) and I know exactly what I am buying her. I have some of Pea's stuff and I just need to order the rest. Now that I typed that all out, pretty much all I really have left is the husband.

Holiday Crafts

Although the Pea is still too young to really know what making crafts or baking is, I still want to do some fun stuff with her this season. She will surely eat the art supplies and put sugar cookie dough in her hair but at least I can share our holiday spirit with friends and family and say Olivia "helped". Does anyone have any holiday craft ideas or yummy recipes they would like to share? I think we are making construction paper turkeys and apple crisp this November. I would love to hear from you!

The holidays are upon us.

August is almost over. Then comes September.

I am a total holiday dork. When October rolls around and the leaves start to crunch under my feet I get really excited. Crisp weather and the smells of the approaching winter make my heart warm and my spirit happy. Perhaps this is because my parents are awesome and made the season certainly jolly for my sister and me. Now that Olivia is here in our life I can only imagine that time of year to be even more joyous and fun. This will be her second holiday round, but the first occured when she was but a wee little bundle of newborn puke and baby squeaks. Now she will be a spunky and hyper little monster and an entire YEAR old.

If I could take my pick on how to spend this Christmas this is what I would choose: A log cabin in the mountains with lots of snow and a fireplace. A log cabin big enough for my parents, sister, and the three of us. We would wake up Christmas morning and look out the window to find everything covered in a cozy blanket of white snow. Then, we would sip hot chocolate with too many mini marshmallows and watch the Pea rip off eco-friendly wrapping paper off her new toys. I have never had a white Christmas and San Diego is not going to bring me one of those any time soon.
