Chatterbox

Alarms are a thing of the past in our home. Every morning I wake up to the sounds of my chatty one-year old, recounting her dreams and demanding some breakfast. She continues chatting throughout our meal, as I wrestle her for a diaper change, and on our drives to wherever. Her tones change as she talks and I am fairly certain she has a lot to say. We get to my parent's house and she says hello to Winston the pug, squeals for her beloved grandpa's attention, and excitedly thanks us for the yummy berries she snacks on. Sometimes she almost forms another word to add to her small collection and I will patiently wait until I can really understand every sentences that comes out of that sweet little mouth of hers.

I suppose we need to add this book to her little library...

Baby Talk

Pea has been saying "daaa daaa" for a little while now but now she finally says "ma ma maaaa" to me and only me. Does that count as her saying mama for reals? There is no element of drama more profound than finding her standing in her crib repeatedly saying "MAAAAMAAAA" with her face all wrinkled and red with eyes tightly closed, and mouth open flashing her funny little teeth.

Drama Queen!

Amidst our usual Monday morning rush of feeding the baby, getting showered, and trying to down a cup of coffee as quickly as possible Todd and I found our baby girl calling out to us in her crib looking like this:

I could not believe my eyes. She was standing up in her crib looking all proud and excited! I sat her down gently and waited to see if she would do it again. Sure enough, she popped right back up and gave me another eager smile.
Then in the evening, I put her in her crib while trying to get some chores done because I did not feel like digging her out from under the desk because she keeps crawling under there to chew on cords. Pea started crying and finding her standing there with tears running down her pink face just brought the drama to a whole new level.

*Edit: Here is a photo Todd e-mailed me of Olivia under the desk. Now I understand why some parents resort to strange things like keeping their kids in playpens that always remind me of dog kennels...
